Evacuate：撤退、疏散

　　當(dāng)?shù)貢r(shí)間2004年9月12日，颶風(fēng)“伊萬”的風(fēng)速達(dá)到了每小時(shí)240公里，在加勒比海的開曼群島肆虐，造成一些房屋被淹，屋頂被掀翻，還有一些樹木被連根拔起。據(jù)美聯(lián)社報(bào)道，“伊萬”的強(qiáng)大威力給加勒比海地區(qū)帶來了災(zāi)難性的破壞，目前已造成60多人死亡。

　　外電報(bào)道如下：

　　The hurricane, one of the strongest on record in the region, has killed at least 65 people across the Caribbean. About 1.3 million Cubans were evacuated from their homes, most taking refuge in the sturdier homes of relatives or neighbors ahead of its expected arrival on Monday.

　　 Evacuate的意思是“撤退、疏散”。The village was evacuated because of the danger of a flood.（由于洪水的威脅，村里人都已撤走了）。In the war many children were evacuated from the cities to the countryside.（在戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)中許多孩子從城市被疏散到農(nóng)村）。
